Camping in Europe - Things to Do at the Campground

If you’ve been keeping up with me this week, you know I’m camping, European style. What does this mean? Well, picture tent camping in an RV park crossed with a trailer park crossed with a budget resort.

Yesterday I shared some of the different facilities that are available to campers here, and today we take a look at all the things there are to do.

True to camping spirit, there are various games you can play, ping-pong, badminton, there are several grassy areas and voetbal (soccer) fields, but there are also other amenities like tennis courts, a volleyball net, a small skate ramp and even a small dirt track where kids can ride their bicycles.

These guys agreed to be my tennis models.

Foosball anyone?

The skate ramp behind the cantina.

Maciah on the dirt track.

It doesn’t end there, either. There is a clubhouse (cantina) by the entrance that serves snacks and a variety of drinks, from coffee to flavored lemonades to beer and wine. Here at the clubhouse you can play darts, pool air hockey, or arcade games. They also do movie nights, apparently.

We’ve been popping in often to play pool and buy ice cream.

Right next door is mini golf, free to anyone staying here. Maciah and a Dutch friend of mine spent our afternoon there, making our way around the tiny course.

Thanks Dante and Maciah for sharing your photos!

Across the way from midget golf is the pool area, with three pools varying in depth, showers, a playground, and a giant trampoline bubble like the one below.

This one’s nearby, next to the tennis court.

With all the possibilities, I feel like I’m at summer camp! I can see the appeal of so many things to do outdoors when camping, but at the same time it feels a bit odd to have so much stimulation when I’m supposed to be out in nature.

What do you think? Does having all of these activities defeat the purpose of camping?
